Hi Friends,

It’s that time of year again, yes…Award Season. Those glitter-filled weeks when we’re bombarded with the most compelling work of the year. It’s an emotional ride, where we experience a mix of awe and envy while watching the 97 life-changing spots Wieden+Kennedy created in the past 12 months. Amazingly, they all manage to feature music tracks that either make us sob uncontrollably, or compel us to sprint around the block as if we’re in the training montage in Rocky IV.

Inevitably, we end up with obsessive late-night thoughts that amount to, “If I could afford the Beatles…I, too, could make the greatest television spot of all time.”

Well, you’re in luck. We can help with that. You may not be ready to spring for “Revolution,” but if you do decide it’s worth every penny (which it clearly is), we’ve got you covered.

So you’ve got all the goods on how it works, here are the top 5 FAQs on music licensing:

#1: What’s in the public domain and how do I know?
Answer: Call us, we’ll figure it out for you and suggest alternates if your song isn’t on the list. There are some surprising classics that can be had, like this one for AAA via Scream Agency.

#2: How do I find something new and hot?
Answer: Even though the Lumineers are on your mom’s playlist now, when we sourced them for Blue Moon, they hadn’t hit rotation on KOSI yet. New artists are often open to working with brands, let us know what style you’re thinking and we’ll help you find something tasty.

#3: What if I want a new twist on an old favorite?
Answer: Oh this is sooooo much fun! Our composers can make any song yours, and we’ve got in-house musicians + 100 different bands on deck clamoring to create a perfectly reimagined piece exactly how you want it. (And of course we’ll work out the licensing for you, too.)

#4: What if I want a song that’s a really big deal?
Answer: It may not be as expensive as you think, even the trusts of legends are looking for additional revenue streams these days. Can’t hurt to ask. Let us look into it, we make miracles happen every day.

If you’ve got more questions, we’ve got all the answers on music deals. And if we don’t, we’re one call from Rick Rubin. Let’s make that late night W+K resentment a thing of the past.

Cheers!
